Graffiti in general is very common in Melbourne and Hosier Lane just seems to be a great location for tourists to see it all in one place.

Of course I picked a yellow hut!

This was the closest to Iowa colors…
All the beach huts lined up.
Some adventures during my first weeks in the Gold Coast:
Arriving in Gold Coast, seeing Bond’s campus for the first time, and sightseeing before classes start!
This is Bond University! Probably the prettiest campus I’ve ever seen!
As the Aussies say it, I am officially a Bond Uni!
This campus feels like a resort! How am I even supposed to study?
Dad, I knew you would enjoy this. $96 for two cases of Coronas!
My friends and I our first night out in Gold Coast! I got a little sunburnt at the beach earlier..oops!
My roommates and I did some barbecuing! We bought marinated chicken and corn on the cob!
This is Pacific Fair Shopping Center, only the prettiest mall ever. Mom and dad…don’t be upset when I do some heavy duty shopping!
The view from my housing for the next 4 months!
The living room in my Peppers apartment.
The kitchen in my apartment.
Our balcony, which is a really nice place to eat meals.
The view from my bedroom.
Surfing lessons in Surfers Paradise. It’s a lot harder than it looks and I couldn’t even stand up, but I tried so that’s all the matters!
It was nice to go with a group of girls in my TEAN program that are living in Peppers as well.
My TEAN orientation in Cairns, Australia! I snorkeled over the Great Barrier Reef, visited the oldest rainforest in the world, met an aboriginal, held a koala, fed a kangaroo, went canyoning, and barely got any sleep!!
The view from my hotel room in the Hilton Cairns.
This embarrassing photo was my effort in trying to figure out how to use the GoPro!
The Great Barrier Reef was full of super colorful animals and coral!
Cairns (the town I stayed in by the Great Barrier Reef) was a cute little town with great night life (part of the reason this picture is blurry!)
Alex and I before snorkeling over the Great Barrier Reef.
Huge smiles for seeing the Great Barrier Reef.
This was literally the coolest thing I’ve ever done!
Me snorkeling over the Great Barrier Reef!
At the Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas I was able to see koalas, wallabies, kangaroos and so much more! How cute are the wallabies?!
My furry friend Tia!
Tia is a diva and got mad at me for holding her the wrong way..oops.
How cute is she though?!
How terrified do I look?
Alex and Tia.
They’re even cuter in person!
I think this is the biggest bird I’ve ever seen. Look at it’s feet! It’s called an Emu.
Feeding a kangaroo!
The closest I’ll ever get to a dragon.
To be honest, I don’t know what this plant is called, but I thought it was so pretty.
My aboriginal guide from the Kuku Yalangi tribe telling us a story about a young boy who chased a cassowary. The moral of the story was to listen to your elders because their advice will guide you in the right direction.
At Mossman Gorge we were given a tour of the Daintree Rainforest, the oldest rainforest in the world, by an aboriginal guide. We celebrated a ceremony walking through smoke to welcome us to the country.
The rainforest was so beautiful, but also so humid!
This is the Mossman Gorge! It is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen!
My tour group and I walked about a mile through the rainforest looking at different trees, plants, and animals.
We were able to swim in the water, but Alex and I forgot to bring swimsuits so we just enjoyed the view instead.
This picture does not do it justice. Standing in the middle of the rainforest with a view of waterfalls and the mountains in the back was the moment it hit me that I was no longer in the States.
Alex and I in front of the Mossman Gorge.
On our way back from the rainforest we stopped at an overlook that was just equally breathtaking.
Am I basic yet?
Taking in this breathtaking view!
So I decided to go canyoning…
How happy do I look? on the inside though I was terrified.
Sliding down a waterfall!
This was about my activity level!
Zip lining was may favorite part of canyoning!
This is a genuine smile, not a forced one like when I was repelling down the waterfall lol.
Repelling down a waterfall was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, but it was such a great experience.
My first time zip lining!
Here I am scaling down a 40 ft waterfall!
Moments before I bruised the backs of my legs (they’re still healing). This was a 30 meter cliff jump!
This was my canyoning group! It was very reassuring knowing everyone else was just as nervous and terrified as I was.
Smile of relief once the trek was over!
Leaving the United States for 4 months- the goodbyes were difficult, but so excited for a semester full of adventure!
After asking 3 airport employees, my family and Yarko were given gate passes to come with me until I boarded the plane to LAX. This made such a hard goodbye a little easier.
I am so lucky to have them care so much about me!
4 months may feel like a long time without you Yarko, but I know we can do it!
I am so grateful to have a boyfriend who is so supportive!
I miss you already Joe chick. Please don’t injure yourself too much while I’m gone.
I miss you lady! I know you’ll still make me jiggle even though I’m on the other side of the world.
Thank you for making this dream of mine a reality! I am so so lucky to have you guys be so supportive and encouraging of all my choices. I love you guys both so much!
With all my luggage!
Kept all mu luggage under 50lbs a bag! Thanks mom for making sure I wouldn’t have any issues!
Alex and I beginning our journey across the globe!
Right before the tears, but filled with so much excitement.
